Police Blotter: Stolen Hubcaps, Men Charged with Burglary

The police blotter is compiled from reports provided by the Libertyville Police Department each week. Readers are reminded that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Feb. 23, hubcaps were stolen from nine vehicles at Libertyville Toyota, 1180 S. Milwaukee Ave. According to police reports, a total of 32 hubcaps were removed from the vehicles, which were parked in Toyota’s overflow lot in the 100 block of W. Golf Road. Each hubcap was valued at $67.91 and a total loss of around $2170 was reported. Police responded to a report of suspicious persons in the area of 1200 Amy Lane on Feb. 24. Police found McHenry resident Santiago Lopez, 19, and Volo resident John Brennan, 19, walking on Virginia Lane, north of Eric Lane.  A search of the teens’ vehicle revealed several suspicious items. Police Blotter: 3 Thefts, Driving Without Valid License, Registration

Theft On Feb. 9, an employee at Advocate Condell Hospital, 801 South Route 21, reported that someone stole a wallet from her purse that was underneath her desk. Her office was locked at the time of the theft, which occurred during lunch hours. The wallet contained a debit card and several credit cards, which the thief attempted to use. No estimate of loss was listed.  A purse was stolen from a vehicle parked at Tricocci University, 751 E. Park Ave., on Feb. 9. The victim told police the vehicle was locked at the time of the theft. No entry damage was visible on the vehicle. The purse contained an i-Pod touch, a silver Nikon camera, identification, a debit card and two prescriptions. No estimate of loss was listed. Police Blotter: Home Burglary, Theft, Vandalism, Speeding

Residential Burglary On Jan. 28, a resident on the 1600 block of Cass Avenue reported that someone entered the unlocked back door of the home and removed a purse. The purse contained an iPhone, a wallet with cash, credit cards and identification. Footprints were discovered in the snow leading from the side of the house to the rear entrance. Sign Theft A Most Reliable Remodelers Organization (MRRO) representative reported that five MRRO signs were removed from various locations at the Libertyville Sports Complex, 1950 N. US Highway 45, during the recent home improvement expo. The theft occurred sometimes after 5pm on Jan. 29. The signs were valued at $1,200. Warrant Arrests Police arrested Indian Creek resident Yan Gusinsky, 25, on two outstanding Lake County warrants after he was identified at XSport Fitness. Gusinsky was arrested after he fled Xsport and ran into a local car dealership at about 10:30am on Jan. 10. Gusinsky was unable to post $10,000, 10 percent bond for the warrants and was transported to Lake County Jail. An acquaintance of Gusinsky, Omar Edwards, 26, of Hoffman Estate, was charged with …

Police Blotter: Theft at Construction Site, 2 DUIs

Theft at Construction Site, Home A number of plumbing supplies and 650 feet of copper pipe were reported stolen from the construction site of Greentree Animal Hospital, 800 East Park Avenue. On Dec. 13, a plumbing contractor from the site reported the theft and said it occurred sometime over the previous weekend. No value of the total loss was reported. Thieves broke into a home on the 1100 block of West Golf Road sometimes between 8am and 6pm, when the residents returned. The burglars stole crystal candleholders, silver items, money and a digital camera. Police are continuing to investigate the case.
