Residents "Wine about Winter"

Main Street' fifth annual Let's WIne About Winter attracts more than 1,000 participants.

The sun was shining, the snow was melting, and the wine was flowing. Record numbers of participants swarmed Libertyville's Main Street on Saturday to experience the fifth annual "Let's Wine About Winter" event. MainStreet Libertyville, a volunteer based non-profit, organized the four-hour long event which attracted more than 1,000 participants. More than 33 retail stores and restaurants participated in the event, offering tastings of wine, cheese, artists and musicians. A bus filled with Hoffman Estates residents as well as an adult singles group, came out to enjoy the festivites. MainStreet Libertyville sold commemerative wine glassess for $10, and the merchants provided the wines free of charge. The proceeds will go towards funding …

Shop 60048 Hosts Its First Holiday Stroll

Residents enjoy live music, wine, and trivia questions at the event.

Shoppers on Libertyville's Main Street were sent on an informational scavenger hunt this weekend. The Holiday Stroll was organized by Shop 60048, a volunteer-based organization dedicated to educating people on the benefits of shopping local. Balloons decorated doorways of participating merchants. "People walk in, ask what the balloons are about, then get an explanation about the Holiday Stroll and learn about the store," says Curtis Frame/Back Alley Gallery Owner John Timony. Shoppers were encouraged to answer questions from 15 stores and once they answered all correctly, they could enter their card  to win a basket of goodies worth more than $500.
