Vintage Cars, Live Music Await at 'Car Fun on 21'

The monthly event will be held tonight, Aug. 15.

It's time once again to take a leisurely stroll down Church Street and check out some vintage cars. MainStreet Libertyville's Car Fun on 21 will be held tonight, Aug. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Church Street between Milwaukee and Brainerd Avenues. Entertainment will be provided by David Dallison & Friends. Food will be sold by Main Street Smokehouse and Culver's. For more information, contact MainStreet Libertyville at (847) 680-0336.

Out to Lunch, First Friday Slated for Aug. 3

It's going to be a busy Friday in downtown Libertyville!

Are you looking for something to do on Friday? Libertyville has two big events planned, including the weekly Out to Lunch event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by First Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. This week's Out to Lunch will feature music from SageBrush. The following vendors will sell food and beverages to enjoy in Cook Memorial Park: Catered Productions, Culver's, Domino's Pizza, Egg Harbor Café, MainStreet Smokehouse, Mickey Finn's Brewery, Rosati's Pizza and Tacos el Rey de Oro. Artist at Heart, Ariazi Salon & Spa and North Shore Pro-Active Health will be featured in the MainStreet tent. The following businesses will participate in First Friday with various promotions throughout downtown Libertyville:

Items on the agenda include: consideration of a permit to allow the Libertyville High School Wildcat Parents Association to hold fireworks displays before the Aug. 31 and Sept. 21 football games; and consideration of a change order regarding the Milwaukee Avenue widening project. July 4 Fireworks, First Friday This Week

Here's a look at some fun events coming up this week in town: July 4: The village of Libertyville, along with the Libertyville Mile of Cars, will hold the annual Independence Day fireworks display at dusk, about 9:30 p.m. in Butler Lake Park. The fireworks will be preceded by a Libertyville Band performance at 7:30 p.m. at the band shell. UPDATE: The village confirmed July 3 that the fireworks will go on as planned, despite the dry conditions. 'Out to Lunch' Starts June 22

Libertyville, it's time to go "Out to Lunch." MainStreet Libertyville's annual Out to Lunch program, featuring food vendors and entertainment, will start June 22 and will be held each Friday through Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. "It is kind of our mini-Ravinia in Cook Park on a Friday afternoon," said Pam Hume, executive director of MainStreet Libertyville. "It's a great day." Hume said people come to Cook Park with their blankets and listen to local bands. David Dallison & Friends will kick off the season June 22. Farmers Market Starts June 21

The market will be held on Church Street between Milwaukee and Brainerd.

MainStreet Libertyville will kick off its annual Farmers Market on Thursday with a number of new items to be offered, including focaccia bread, goat milk soaps and fresh-made tacos. The Farmers Market will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Thursday, June 21 through Oct. 18, on Church Street between Milwaukee and Brainerd avenues. "It's a real farmers market," said Pam Hume, executive director of MainStreet Libertyville. It's all about "if you grow it or make it," said Hume. "Ours is great," she said of the farmers market, which started 32 years ago. Hume said about 30 farmers participate in the market.
