GLMV Chamber to Host 'Extreme Block Party'

Chamber business members can register by April 1 $200 for the multi-chamber 'Extreme Block Party' on April 27.

The GLMV Chamber is gearing up for its annual multi-chamber "Extreme Block Party" to be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at the Libertyville Sports Complex. The event will feautre hundreds of local vendors, live entertainment, raffles for prizes, food samples, a live reptile show, moonwalk, face painting and more.

Youth Swim Tryouts Monday

The Libertyville-Vernon Hills-based CATS youth swim program will hold tryouts for its spring/summer long-course season at Vernon Hills High School Monday, March 18.

The spring/summer season for the CATS Aquatic youth swim program begins in April. Those who want to be on the team are invited to tryouts from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Vernon Hills High School, 145 Lakeview Parkway. Tryouts will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis. Results of those who have made the team will be posted on the CATS Aquatic Team website on Wednesday, March 21. Tryouts will take place Monday at Vernon Hills High School from 6-8 p.m. Take Route 60 to the Lakeview Parkway stop light west of Hawthorn Mall and turn south. To be considered for the team: ■ Swimmers age 8-under must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) of freestyle with rotary breathing and 25 yards of backstroke. ■ Swimmers 9‐10 must be …

Vernon Hills, Park District Move Forward with YMCA Agreement

The village and the Vernon Hills Park District officials vote on agreement this week, the Daily Herald reports.

A deal between Vernon Hills and the Vernon Hills Park District to keep the Central Lake YMCA building open is close to being completed, the Daily Herald reports. Vernon Hills officials this week voted on the financial agreement with the park district for it to purchase the YMCA building for $2 million, the newspaper reports. The park district is expected to vote on the same agreement at its meeting scheduled today, Nov. 15, the Daily Herald reports. The village and the park district have been working together to purchase the YMCA building, located at 700 Lakeview Parkway from the Lake County Family YMCA.
