Libertyville Feed My Starving Children Seeks Volunteers

Here's some important information and where to register to become a volunteer.

  Feed My Starving Children unofficially opened the Libertyville office Wednesday, holding its first meal-packing session. The Christian nonprofit works with volunteers to help combat hunger throughout the world. It relies on volunteers to help pack food and provide donations for its mission. If you are interested in volunteering, here is some basic information: Volunteering Volunteers must register with Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) on its website. You can register as an individual, family or group. Sign up is being taken now for December dates, according to the website. Area Moms Not Only Will, But Want to Volunteer

Balance and planning help local moms find time to volunteer.

Recently, the media has been showcasing a surge in busy moms who are “just saying no” to volunteering. Local moms tell Patch how they still find it important to help when they can, but that everyone has to know their limits. Helping Hands Libertyville mom, Kerry Nowicki, attributes her ability to volunteer at her children’s schools and church to her husband’s willingness to help. “I couldn’t do a lot of the stuff I do without the support of my husband,” Nowicki says. “We don’t have family nearby. Often when I have to say no is when it’s during the day. I can’t justify paying someone to watch the kids so I can go and volunteer.” Nowicki, a stay-at-home mom of three children ages 8, 6, and 3, is on the board that oversees the early childhood…
