ReplyIsn't Bonnie Quirke the woman who likes to tell all of us what books the library will and will not allow, mainly based on her Right to Life beliefs?

Reply24 year old man does that to a 66 year old man. What a lovely person he must be. Now my tax dollars are going to pay for him to have 3 meals a day, health care and a roof over his head.

ReplyWhat a stupid decision. Sales must really be down in Vernon Hills that they now have to resort to selling alcohol at the mall to get people to come and spend money in their town. Do we really need to have a beer to watch a 2 hour movie? Wristbands can and will be exchanged. This is all just an accident waiting to happen.

My great uncle used to have a mink farm. At that time, the animals were killed by having an electrical prod inserted into their butt and they were electricuted. This was so that their outside fur would not be damaged. Not sure if that is how they still do it, but I know that it put me off of EVER owning a fur coat.

Actually, jbw, I do all of those things that you so kindly suggest.
All of my companion animals have been adopted from shelters and rescue groups. I volunteer at and donate money to an animal shelter in southern Wisconsin. I have organized, collected and delivered donated dog/cat food and supplies to a local pet food pantry (helping the humans who are in need and would like to keep and take care of their pets.)
I won't wear fur or eat veal along with many other things that just don't feel right to me. I am not perfect, but I do what I can in my own small way. -

JBW, you think quite highly of yourself and your species.
Maybe some of us would like to try and live a kinder, gentler life.
Does that offend you?
You do your thing, and I'll do mine. -

ReplyMaybe this woman wouldn't have been comfortable carrying a gun in her purse if there were a "conceal/carry" law in Illinois. Not everyone wants to carry a gun on themselves and not everyone is capable of the HUGE responibility that goes with owning and carrying a gun. I wish people would quit talking as if everyone carrying guns in the United States is the answer to our problems. When a man is convicted of beating a woman, he should be required to attend daily anger management therapy and wear an ankle monitoring bracelet that allows him very limited movement (work, home, therapy and a grocery store) for 2 years, minimum. Add up what it would cost to pay for the therapy and ankle bracelet and tack it onto the $5,000.00 bond that he has to pay. Can't pay the cost. Go to jail.

If I buy an item at a store, I pay a sales tax. Why shouldn't I pay a sales tax if I buy the product online? Seems to me that online sales hurt the small business owner more than anything. So what if the item is only available online? You still should have to pay sales tax on it.
