Learn About Lake County's Role in the Civil War at Historical Society Meeting

The meeting is slated for 7 p.m. Sept. 16.

The Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society is set to launch another season of programming later this month at the Cook Memorial Library in Libertyville.

Starting off the fall programming schedule will be Lake County Discovery Museum collections coordinator Diana Dretske!

Using letters, diaries and photographs from the Lake County Discovery Museum's Civil War Collections, this presentation discusses the county's role in the war. Libertyville soldiers will also be highlighted during the presentation.

More about Diana Dretske: Ms. Dretske works extensively with the Lake County archival and objects collections. She chairs the Lake County Historical Alliance, a network of 31 area museums and historical societies; writes a bi-weekly blog on local history; has published three books on Lake County history; and is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois State Historical Society for her efforts in preserving and promoting Illinois history.

The Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society's meetings are free to attend and open to the public. Anyone who is interested in attending a meeting or joining the organization is welcome to attend.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 in the downstairs meeting room at the Cook Park Library, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave.
