Waukegan Man Killed, Zion Man Injured in Head-On Crash

The crash occurred on Route 21 in Waukegan.

A head-on crash on Route 21 near Libertyville early Friday afternoon left a 63-year-old Waukegan man dead and a 62-year-old Zion man in serious condition at Advocate Condell Medical Center, the Libertyville Review reported.

The Waukegan man, identified as Alexander Petropoulous, was pronounced dead at Advocate Condell, according to the Libertyville Review. He had been driving a Chrysler minivan, while the Zion man was driving a Chevy SSR, the Libertyville Review reported.

Brian Keller, chief of operations at the Lake County Sheriff's Office, said police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash with injuries at 12:46 p.m. The accident, he said, occurred a quarter-mile north of Rollingwoods Road on Route 21 in Waukegan. The stretch of Route 21 between Routes 120 and 137 was closed for just over two hours Friday.
